Going Nowhere is a song by Little Mix which appears as the eleventh track on their debut album, DNA.

Critical Reception

Popdust writer Andrew Unterberger stated: "So we are thankful that Little Mix have giving us “Going Nowhere,” a flamenco-tinged acoustic number that sounds like a tearful breakup ballad–and in a way it is, but the cause of the breakup is not because of cheating or emotional distance, but rather because the dude in the song won’t get off his ass and do anything with his life. Complaints about rampant XBox abuse are not traditionally the stuff that great end-of-relationship torch songs are made of, but Little Mix make it work, with the song’s understated arrangement making the yearning questions of the chorus (“How can I love you boy if you’re going nowhere?”) sound all the more critical and dramatic.

That beatbox breakdown and rap verse certainly come out of nowhere, and distract a little from the song’s more emotional content, but that’s course-corrected before long, with the group’s incredibly strong singing providing the lasting impression from the song." [1]

Lyrics

Jesy:
Mm... Yeah, ha! Ohh, eh-yeah

Leigh-Anne:
Sick of you playing on that Xbox thing
You’re never gonna get me with the diamond ring
Look at you, so confused, no you don't have a clue
I bet you think you got me good

Jade:
So tell me when’s the last time you changed that shirt?
Instead of sitting here you should be going to work
Like I do, for you, you're down and it’s not cool
Time for me to move on, nothing I could do so

All:
Leave, you're not the boy you said you’d be
And it’s so hard for me to breathe
How can I love you boy if you’re going nowhere
We’re going nowhere?

Bye, don’t have the strength to see you cry
I’m tired of asking myself why
How can I love you boy if you’re going nowhere
We’re going nowhere?

Perrie:
How am I supposed to look at you like that?
When all you ever really do is hold me back
No more for sure, it’s you who’s out the door
I think I should press delete (All: And clear my history)

Jesy:
I got my ambitions, yes I dream so big
While I’m ticking boxes you’ll be counting sheep
So you do you and I’ll be me, time for me to move on
Nothing left to see so

All (Jade):
Leave, you are not the boy you said you'd be
And it’s so hard for me to breathe (It's so hard, it's so hard)
How can I love you boy if you’re going nowhere
We’re going nowhere?

Bye (Why) don’t have the strength to see you cry
(I don't wanna see you cry)
I’m tired of asking myself why
How can I love you boy if you’re going nowhere
We’re going nowhere?

Leigh-Anne (Perrie):
I'm sick of dragging you up, all you do is pull me down
I wish you good luck 'cause as now I ain’t around
See, I can recollect every other rain fall
But I stayed here, unchanged, that’s my only downfall (Ohh)
Little boy boy pull your trousers up, I ain't bruv (Huh)
I just have some respect (Yeah), are you a man or a mouse?
You don’t provide or protect
Stay stuck in the mud, I’ll be on to the next (Oh)

All:
Leave, you are not the boy you said you’d be
(Perrie: You're not the boy you said you'd be)
And it’s so hard for me to breathe
How can I love you boy if you’re going nowhere
We’re going nowhere?

Bye, don’t have the strength to see you cry
I’m tired of asking myself why
(Jade: I'm sick and tired of asking myself why)
How can I love you boy if you’re going nowhere
We’re going nowhere?

All (Jade):
Bye (Yeah), cry

Leigh-Anne:
I'm sick and tired of asking

All:
Why you're going nowhere
We're going nowhere?
